Getting it Right on Mistakes

It’s Halloween this month, the time of fears and nightmares. Making a mistake on the job, worse still making one which harms or kills a patient, is a nightmare scenario I expect haunts many vets.

Often this fear can become paralysing, especially if you are a younger professional who does not yet have the comforting weight of success and experience to balance out the things which go wrong. If you’ve got a hundred bitch spays under your belt, the one that bleeds is – you know – just the inevitable complication. If you’ve only done five, it’s a different story...
